Pickens approves! … ExpandĪs others have pointed out in their reviews so far, the third installment looks half-assed. Once a strong series now decays, because of financial problems. But as far as I know there's no Trine 4 planned. It's short and the story ends abruptly with promises to be continued.
This is just half of the game and it shows. The studio run out of funds and they just released what they were able to finish. Well, there are some goblins, but not for the entire game, which is a big relief! I would give this a 10/10, but the game is unfinished. What makes me happy here is that the Trine 1 spirit has been resurrected, there are no pointless secrets and chests filled with poems (I'm looking at you Trine 2), no irrational puzzles or goblins. Sure, the rpg elements have been removed and the collectibles are easier to find, but that's nothing. It features a lot of interesting enemies and ideas and the best level designs in the entire series. Trine 3 gives us back the great puzzles of Trine 1. This one is definitely better than Trine 2 and the sh**ty dlc "Goblin Nickelback". It's still the same awesome game, that the first part was. That's cool and all, but does it really matter?
